Stand up for your local rivers, lakes or sea. Get your views published in your local newspaper!
Sending a letter to the editor of your local newspaper is a great way to speak up for your local rivers, lakes, or sea, calling for Clean Water Now.
Clean water can't wait: there must be Government action now.
Sewage, pollution, and toxic chemicals are harming rivers, lakes and seas right now. Wildlife are losing their homes, species are declining - and people are paying the price.
The UK Government promised change, but currently its proposals won't make transformations needed. This is the moment to:
-
Stop the polluters − clamp down on sewage, restrict intensive agriculture and ban toxic chemical pollution.
-
Fix the system − stop water companies putting profit before people and nature.
-
Restore nature − create new natural habitats along rivers and coastlines.
Over 40 organisations, with more than 9 million supporters, have joined forces to launch the Clean Water Now campaign.
With a letter to your local newspaper, you can make an impact in different ways:
– Raise awareness of local issues. Letters reach a large audience online and offline
– Build local support for action
– Engage your local MP and decision makers. This makes it hard for them to ignore public demand for change
Using a few carefully placed letters, you can generate a huge amount of community discussion.
